Daily cases rise again to new high of 20,889

Another 20,889 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,224,595.

Selangor recorded 8,792 cases, Kuala Lumpur 2,483, Kedah 1,371, Sabah 1,291 and Johor 1,275.

Negeri Sembilan recorded 986 cases, Kelantan 938, Penang 776, Sarawak 652, Perak 624, Pahang 610, Melaka 491, Terengganu 460 and Putrajaya 122.

Labuan and Perlis recorded nine cases each.

Active cases stand at 221,396 with 1,096 in the ICU and 545 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 16,394 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 993,020.

However, 160 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 10,179.
