The Malaysian Association of Theme Park & Family Attractions (Matfa) is giving away RM640,000 worth of complimentary tickets and passes for those who are vaccinated by Aug 31 in conjunction with Merdeka Day and in support of the government’s decision that those who are fully inoculated will be allowed some flexibility in terms of Covid-19 SOPs.

Matfa president Richard CK Koh said the passes would cover 130 theme parks and 350 family entertainment centres and playlands nationwide.

In a statement, he assured that all Matfa members have “a very high safety record” and were “well entrenched in the mechanics of the entrance gated controls system even before the pandemic”.

“We will fully incorporate the MySejahtera application as a vaccine passport and only allow those who are low risk or fully vaccinated on our premises,” he said.

“With such a controlled environment with manageable risk and capacity at our facilities in comparison with many crowded areas that have no gated control system, we are certain that they will have the required increased mobility and flexibility with the confidence of safety and security.”

Koh added that Matfa and related players in the tourism industry were continuing their cooperation with the tourism ministry to help speed up vaccination for their employees.

“We call upon all Malaysians to step up and join the vaccination programme to encourage more families to get themselves vaccinated,” he said, adding that details of the tickets and vouchers would be made available nearer to the date.
