Ministers have reiterated their full support for Muhyiddin Yassin, following a Cabinet meeting today, further dispelling talk of rebellion against the prime minister.

They also said that every government decision is made collectively by Cabinet members after taking into consideration the views of all parties.

“The government’s priority at the moment is to ensure the success of the National Recovery Plan for the sake of the people’s welfare and the nation’s prosperity, as well as to bring the country out of the Covid-19 pandemic,” they said in a statement.

Their declaration of support for the prime minister comes a week after Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced an immediate revocation of the party’s support for Muhyiddin after chairing a meeting of the Umno Supreme Council.

He said Muhyiddin had failed to fulfil several conditions as the basis of Umno’s support for the Perikatan Nasional government, urging the prime minister to step down and allow an interim leader to take over.

However, MalaysiaNow later reported that the majority of Umno MPs were sticking with their decision not to revoke support for Muhyiddin despite Zahid’s announcement.
