Telekom Malaysia chairman Mohd Bakke Salleh has been appointed as chairman of national oil firm Petronas, replacing Ahmad Nizam Salleh who has been appointed as chairman of Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd.

Both appointments will be effective from Aug 1.

“The prime minister extends his gratitude for Nizam’s leadership and contributions to Petronas for the past three years,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Bakke had been chairman of Telekom since May 11 last year. He resigned today and will step down from the role effective July 31.

Nizam meanwhile will remain as chairman of the KLCC Group.
