New cases inch up to 6,988

Another 6,988 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 758,967.

Selangor recorded 2,885 cases, Kuala Lumpur 988, Negeri Sembilan 692, Sarawak 544, Melaka 311, Johor 270, Kedah 250, Sabah 232, Pahang 195, Penang 174, Perak 149, Labuan 129 and Kelantan 108.

Terengganu recorded 50 cases, Putrajaya 10 and Perlis one.

Active cases stand at 64,453 with 917 in the ICU and 445 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 5,580 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 688,260.

However, 84 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 5,254.
