The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) yesterday recorded its highest daily tally of vaccines administered with 221,706 doses, surpassing the government’s target for July two weeks early for the third consecutive day.

In a Twitter post, PICK said 177,876 individuals received a first dose of vaccine yesterday while 43,830 others received a second dose, bringing the total doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered so far to 5,330,654.

The number of daily jabs administered first topped the target of 200,000 for July on June 15, with 215,876 doses given out.

It has consistently exceeded 200,000 jabs since.

PICK coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin previously said the government was aiming for a daily administration of 200,000 doses of vaccine from July and 300,000 a day from August.

As of yesterday, 11.7% of the population had been given at least one dose while a total of 1,520,583 had been fully vaccinated.

The five states with the highest number of individuals who are fully vaccinated are Selangor (195,315), followed by Sarawak (1272,644), Johor (149,227), Perak (140,885) and Kuala Lumpur (137,078).

Meanwhile, a total of 14,637,437 registrations for vaccination were recorded as of June 16.

This means 62.5% of the population has registered for the vaccination programme.
