New cases fall below 5,000

Another 4,949 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 662,457.

Selangor reported 1,523 cases, Sarawak 744, Kuala Lumpur 503, Johor 430, Negeri Sembilan 323, Sabah 273, Penang and Kelantan 214 each, Kedah 199, Perak 136, Melaka 119 and Labuan 113.

Terengganu recorded 86 cases, Pahang 61, Putrajaya 10 and Perlis one.

Active cases stand at 71,625 with 921 in the ICU and 459 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 6,588 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 586,864.

However, 60 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 3,968.
