New cases surge past 6,000 again

Selangor records 2,558 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur with 884.

Another 6,849 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 646,411.

Selangor recorded 2,558 cases, Kuala Lumpur 884, Sarawak 699, Negeri Sembilan 685, Johor 426, Sabah 309, Kelantan 248, Penang 205, Labuan 176, Melaka 170, and Perak and Kedah 161 each.

Pahang recorded 89 cases, Terengganu 66, Putrajaya 10 and Perlis two.

Active cases stand at 78,864 with 912 in the ICU and 458 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 7,749 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 563,779.

However, 84 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 3,768.
