Daily cases surge past 9,000 as 98 more deaths logged

Another 9,020 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 558,534.

Selangor recorded 2,836 cases, Kelantan 907, Negeri Sembilan 898, Kuala Lumpur 789, Sarawak 726, Johor and Kedah 468 each, Penang 345, Melaka 340, Perak 272, Sabah 265, Labuan 253, Pahang 216 and Terengganu 189.

Active cases stand at 76,218 with 844 in the ICU and 430 in need of respiratory assistance.

Putrajaya recorded 29 cases and Perlis 19.

Another 5,527 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 479,666.

However, 98 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 2,650.
