Daily cases shoot closer to 8,000 mark

7,857 new cases recorded in a new high.

Another 7,857 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 541,224.

Selangor recorded 2,675 cases, Sarawak 772, Kelantan 754, Kuala Lumpur 561, Johor 549, Kedah 441, Penang 365, Negeri Sembilan 353, Terengganu 282, Pahang 238, Melaka 234, Perak 228, Sabah 217 and Labuan 170.

Putrajaya recorded 12 cases and Perlis, six.

Active cases stand at 69,408 with 771 in the ICU and 392 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 4,598 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 469,325.

However, 59 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 2,491.
