Over 680 in ICU as new cases inch towards 7,000

Another 6,976 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 512,091.

Selangor recorded 2,235 cases, Sarawak 663, Kelantan 626, Johor 549, Kuala Lumpur 447, Negeri Sembilan 434, Kedah 422, Penang 372, Perak 279, Terengganu 266, Pahang 263, Melaka 209 and Sabah 136.

Labuan recorded 37 cases, Putrajaya 30 and Perlis eight.

Active cases stand at 57,020 with 681 in the ICU and 361 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 3,587 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 452,821.

However, 49 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 2,248.
