New cases back below 3,000 mark

Another 2,881 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 411,594.

Selangor recorded 759 cases, Sarawak 445, Kelantan 442, Kuala Lumpur 315, Johor 310, Penang 133 and Kedah 111.

Negeri Sembilan recorded 89, Perak and Sabah 64 each, Melaka 54, Pahang 47, Terengganu 42, and Labuan and Putrajaya three each.

Active cases stand at 29,631 with 337 in the ICU and 176 in need of respiratory assistance.

Fourteen more clusters were detected:

1. Sungai Nirai (Selangau in Sarawak; 66 screened, 41 positive)
2. Umas (Kalabakan in Sabah; 53 screened, 34 positive)
3. Seri Jati (Melaka Tengah and Alor Gajah in Melaka; 147 screened, 12 positive)
4. Jalan Sepat (Larut, Matang and Selama in Perak; 74 screened, 11 positive)
5. Jalan Garuda (Johor Bahru and Kulai in Johor; 231 screened, 15 positive)
6. Jalan Sungai Sembilan (Kuala Selangor in Selangor; 1,372 screened, 14 positive)
7. Jalan Kilang Dua (Lahad Dadu in Sabah; 51 screened, 11 positive)
8. Durin (Bau in Sarawak; 96 screened, eight positive)
9. Sebatu (Jasin in Melaka; 167 screened, 27 positive)
10. Air Budi (Alor Gajah in Melaka; 169 screened, 15 positive)
11. Lestari Perdana Tujuh (Petaling and Hulu Langat in Selangor; 787 screened, 86 positive)
12. Saujana (Setiu and Besut in Terengganu; 386 screened, 25 positive)
13. Persiaran Sinaran Ilmu (Johor Bahru in Johor; 36 screened, eight positive)
14. Long Jegan (Miri and Beluru in Sarawak; 162 screened, 57 positive)

Nine others ended, leaving 395 active clusters across the country.

Another 2,462 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 380,442.

However, 15 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 1,521.
