Sarawak cases surge as 2,551 more infections reported nationwide

960 new cases reported in Sarawak.

Another 2,551 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 370,528.

Sarawak reported 960 cases followed by Selangor (590), Kuala Lumpur (245), Kelantan (164), Sabah (143) and Johor (121).

Penang recorded 91 cases, Negeri Sembilan 53, Perak 49, Pahang 47, Kedah 35, Melaka 28, Terengganu 16, Putrajaya six, Perlis two and Labuan one.

Active cases stand at 18,600 with 227 in the ICU and 91 in need of respiratory assistance.

Seven new clusters were detected:

1. Jalan Sultan Iskandar (Bintulu in Sarawak; 440 screened, 27 positive)
2. Jalan Balakong (Hulu Langat in Selangor; 29 screened, 19 positive)
3. Jalan Kia Peng (Lembah Pantai, Kepong and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur; 18 screened, eight positive)
4. DTI Sandakan (Sandakan in Sabah; 641 screened, 55 positive)
5. DTI Lenggeng (Seremban and Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan; 181 screened, 70 positive)
6. Jepak (Bintulu in Sarawak; 402 screened, 50 positive)
7. Sri Layang (Bentong in Pahang; 420 screened, 16 positive)

Seven others ended, leaving 346 active clusters across the country.

Another 1,524 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 350,563.

However, two more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 1,365.
