Total recoveries top 300,000 as new cases still under 2,000

Another 1,647 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 319,364.

Selangor recorded 712 cases followed by Johor (170), Penang (169) and Sarawak (168).

Kuala Lumpur recorded 86 cases, Negeri Sembilan 79, Melaka 71, Perak 69, Sabah 61, Kelantan 28, Kedah 18, Pahang seven, Terengganu four, Putrajaya and Perlis two each, and Labuan one.

Active cases stand at 17,544 with 147 in the ICU and 61 in need of respiratory assistance.

Five new clusters were detected:

1. Tapak Bina Jalan Kenangan (Klang in Selangor; 121 screened, 31 positive)
2. Teknologi Tenggara (Batu Pahat in Johor; 146 screened, 12 positive)
3. Jalan Masyhur Enam (Johor Bahru in Johor; 173 screened, 52 positive)
4. DTI Machap Umboo (Alor Gajah in Melaka; 530 screened, 83 positive)
5. Jambatan Satu Bombalai (Kalabakan in Sabah; 41 screened, 15 positive)

Fourteen others ended, leaving 440 active clusters across the country.

Another 2,104 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 300,620.

However, nine more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 1,200.
