The assemblymen for Tronoh and Buntong, Paul Yong Choo Kiong and A Sivasubramaniam, have officially joined Bersatu.

Their entry into Bersatu as associate members was confirmed by Perak Bersatu secretary Zainol Fadzi Paharudin today.

“Yes, they have joined Bersatu. Their applications were approved in December (2020). Yong is now a member of the party in Batu Gajah and Sivasubramaniam in Ipoh Barat,” he told Bernama in a text message.

He said both were former DAP members who left the party in March last year to pledge their support to Perikatan Nasional after it took over the state government from Pakatan Harapan.

“They became Bersatu associate members after the change of menteri besar in December,” Zainol, who is also Sungai Manik assemblyman, said.

Sivasubramaniam left DAP to join Gerakan in June last year, while Yong had remained as an independent.
