Preschoolers and students in Standard 1 and 2 return to the classroom today as schools reopen following their closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The education ministry has allowed students who have not obtained their uniforms yet to wear their everyday clothes to school until March 26 when the first-term holiday begins.

The reopening of face-to-face classes at schools which had been closed across the country since Nov 9 last year will also see students and teachers adapting to new norms and complying with SOPs.

The ministry has distributed guidelines on the reopening of schools and pupil control at school gates to all schools nationwide.

The guideline covers various matters from students’ arrival at school to their departure at the end of the school day.

Apart from primary schools, vocational colleges will also open today.

Students from Standard 3 to 6 will return to school on March 8 while secondary school sessions commence on April 4 in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, and April 5 in all other states.

International schools and private educational institutions will reopen on March 8.

However, face-to-face classes have been postponed until March 14 for schools in Kuching, including the districts of Samarahan, Julau, Meradong, Sibu, Kapit, Bintulu, Subis and Miri, due to the Covid-19 situation there.
