New cases drop below 2,000 mark

12 more deaths reported.

Another 1,924 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 293,698.

Selangor recorded 666 cases, Johor 257, Sarawak 219, Kuala Lumpur 218, Penang 162 and Perak 120.

Sabah recorded 93 cases followed by Negeri Sembilan (62), Kelantan (44), Kedah (29), Melaka (22), Pahang (19), Terengganu (six), Labuan (four), Putrajaya (two) and Perlis (one).

Active cases stand at 28,837 with 205 in the ICU and 91 in need of respiratory assistance.

Eight new clusters were detected:

1. Industri 19 (Petaling and Gombak in Selangor; 84 screened, 34 positive)
2. SS Lapan (Klang, Kuala Selangor and Petaling in Selangor; 600 screened, 36 positive)
3. Industri Jalan Empat (Hulu Langat, Klang and Sepang in Selangor; 193 screened, 12 positive)
4. Jalan Ho Pin (Samarahan, Kuching and Serian in Sarawak; 120 screened, 14 positive)
5. Jalan Putra Silang (Kepong, Cheras and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur; 50 screened, eight positive)
6. Lorong Murni (Seberang Perai Utara in Penang; 112 screened, 21 positive)
7. Kampung Mak Teh (Batang Padang in Perak; 150 screened, 16 positive)
8. Tapak Bina Indera Mahkota (Kuantan in Pahang; 208 screened, 10 positive)

Eighteen others ended, leaving 499 active clusters across the country.

Another 3,752 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 263,761.

However, 12 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 1,100.
