22 deaths, including 100-year-old, push virus toll past 1,000

Recoveries outnumber new cases at 5,709 to 2,998.

Another 2,998 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 272,163.

Selangor recorded 1,382 cases followed by Johor (436), Negeri Sembilan (233), Kuala Lumpur (226) and Sarawak (200).

Perak recorded 99 cases, Sabah 94, Penang 92, Terengganu 91, Kelantan 72, Kedah 36, Melaka 20, Pahang 14, Putrajaya two and Labuan one.

Active cases stand at 41,396 with 231 in the ICU and 115 in need of respiratory assistance.

Thirteen new clusters were detected:

1. Tapak Bina Jalan Emas (Petaling in Selangor; 359 screened, 49 positive)
2. Jalan Rawang (Gombak in Selangor; 442 screened, 42 positive)
3. Jalan DC (Kuala Selangor in Selangor; 37 screened, 13 positive)
4. Jalan Subang (Petaling in Selangor; 151 screened, 28 positive)
5. Tapak Bina Seksyen Satu (Hulu Langat in Selangor; 342 screened, 18 positive)
6. Jalan Persiaran Cyber (Kota Tinggi in Johor; 852 screened, 121 positive)
7. Jalan Payamanis (Johor Bahru in Johor; 254 screened, 39 positive)
8. Senai Murni Empat (Kulai in Johor; 97 screened, 18 positive)
9. Jalan Perindustrian Murni (Kulai, Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi in Johor; 457 screened, 18 positive)
10. Industri Tekstil Nilai (Seremban and Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan; 413 screened, 64 positive)
11. Tapak Bina Jalan Sultan (Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur; 285 screened, 120 positive)
12. Jan Yong (Kapit in Sarawak; 46 screened, 15 positive)
13. Pulau Rusa (Marang, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Dungun in Terengganu; 139 screened, 18 positive)

Another 13 ended, leaving 499 active clusters across the country.

Another 5,709 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 229,762.

However, 22 more deaths were reported, including a 100-year-old man in Selangor, pushing the virus toll to 1,005.
