Recoveries hit new high but 11 more deaths take toll to 678

Another 3,346 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 183,801.

Selangor recorded 950 cases, of which 805 or 84.7% were from clusters and close contact screening.

This was followed by Sabah 431, Kuala Lumpur 390, Johor 378 and Sarawak 255.

Terengganu recorded 179 cases followed by Negeri Sembilan (160), Melaka (152), Penang (90), Kedah (85), Kelantan (77), Pahang (63), Labuan (49), Perak (46), Putrajaya (38) and Perlis (three).

Active cases stand at 41,667 with 265 in the ICU and 102 in need of respiratory assistance.

Nine new clusters were detected:

1. Jalan Sebelas (Hulu Langat in Selangor; 83 cases)
2. Bukit Emas (Seremban, Rembau and Jempol in Negeri Sembilan; 46 cases)
3. Tapak Bina Sri Petaling (Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur; 44 cases)
4. Tembok Taiping (Larut, Matang and Selama in Perak; 42 cases)
5. Ladang Segama (Lahad Datu in Sabah; 22 cases)
6. Kaluli Tujuh (Johor Bahru in Johor; 21 cases)
7. Jalan Segama (Lahad Datu in Sabah; 20 cases)
8. Tapak Bina Flora (Putrajaya; 13 cases)
9. Jalan Tengar (Johor Bahru in Johor; eight cases)

Two others ended, leaving 348 active clusters throughout the country.

Another 4,427 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 141,446.

However, 11 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 678.
