226 in ICU as new cases stay above 3,000

Four more deaths push toll to 605.

Another 3,306 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 161,740.

Selangor recorded 1,213 cases, of which 912 or 75.2% were from clusters and close contact screening.

This was followed by Sabah (432), Johor (329), Kuala Lumpur (250), Melaka (156), Kelantan (150), Penang (145), Kedah (142), Negeri Sembilan (126), Perak (114) and Sarawak (100).

Pahang recorded 84 cases, Terengganu 20, Perlis 16, Putrajaya 15 and Labuan 14.

Active cases stand at 38,791 with 226 in the ICU and 94 in need of respiratory assistance.

Nine new clusters were detected:

1. Taman Tasik Sungai Chua (Hulu Langat in Selangor; 60 cases)
2. Kompleks Segamaha (Kinabatangan in Sabah; 58 cases)
3. Jalan Bukit Bendera (Kota Kinabalu, Papar and Beaufort in Sabah; 20 cases)
4. Jalan Suria (Johor Bahru in Johor; 24 cases)
5. Tapak Bina Jalan Nipah (Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur; 29 cases)
6. Tapak Bina Era Duta (Kepong in Kuala Lumpur; 20 cases)
7. Pulau Lima (Pasir Puteh in Kelantan; nine cases)
8. Jalan TJ (Seremban in Negeri Sembilan; 39 cases)
9. Kafe Genting (Genting Highlands, Bentong in Pahang; 31 cases)

Two others ended, leaving 299 active clusters across the country.

Another 2,293 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 122,344.

However, four more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 605.
