Daily cases shoot past 4,000 in highest numbers yet

Eight more deaths push toll to 594.

Another 4,029 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 155,095.

Selangor recorded 1,466 cases, of which 1,161 or 79.2% were from clusters and close contact screening.

This was followed by Johor (719), Sabah (449), Kuala Lumpur (347) and Negeri Sembilan (214).

Kedah recorded 195 cases, Kelantan 141, Penang 120, Terengganu 80, Sarawak 69, Pahang 65, Perak 54, Melaka 44, Putrajaya 35, Labuan 17 and Perlis 14.

Active cases stand at 37,126 with 205 in the ICU and 79 in need of respiratory assistance.

Six new clusters were detected:

1. Senai Cyber (Kulai in Johor; 114 cases)
2. Tembok Nanas (Pontian in Johor; 41 cases)
3. Jalan Sembrong (Kluang in Johor; 18 cases)
4. Jalan Permata (Seremban in Negeri Sembilan; 61 cases)
5. Taman Juta (Hilir Perak in Perak; 14 cases)
6. Kampung Lebu (Bentong and Kuantan in Pahang; 21 cases)

Five others ended, leaving 285 active clusters across the country.

Another 2,148 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 117,375.

However, eight more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 594.
