Deaths hit new high of 16, pushing virus toll to 537

2,643 new cases, 2,708 recoveries.

Another 2,643 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 131,108.

Selangor recorded the most cases at 1,086, of which 904 or 83.2% were from clusters and close contact screening.

This was followed by Sabah (401), Johor (298) and Kuala Lumpur (282).

Kedah recorded 107 cases, Negeri Sembilan 88, Perak 80, Penang 75, Melaka 70, Kelantan 49, Terengganu 34, Pahang 28, Putrajaya 20, Sarawak 16, Labuan six and Perlis three.

Active cases stand at 25,140 with 170 in the ICU and 82 in need of respiratory assistance.

Six new clusters were detected:

1. Jalan Klinik (Klang in Selangor; 123 cases)
2. Tapak Bina Hevea (Petaling in Selangor; 30 cases)
3. Bukit Belimbing (Petaling and Klang in Selangor; 33 cases)
4. Kauran (Keningau in Sabah; 55 cases)
5. Kapital (Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur; 72 cases)
6. Setapak Indah (Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur; 16 cases)

Another three ended, leaving 257 active clusters throughout the country.

Another 2,708 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 105,431.

However, 16 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 537.
