8 more clusters as new cases still hover above 2,000

Selangor continues to record four-digit case numbers at 1,014.

Another 2,062 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 97,389.

Selangor continued to record the most cases with 1,014. Of these, 887 or 87.5% were from clusters and close contact screening.

This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (504), Sabah (252), Johor (167) and Negeri Sembilan (57).

Penang recorded 23 cases, Perak 17, Melaka nine, Pahang six, Kedah five, Kelantan four, and Putrajaya and Labuan two each.

Active cases stand at 17,646 with 111 in the ICU and 51 in need of respiratory assistance.

Eight new clusters were detected: Pasar Baru (Klang and Kuala Langat, 309 positive cases), Bukit Naga (Klang, 58 cases), Tapak Bina Residen (Lembah Pantai, 294 cases), Tapak Bina Kasih (Kepong, 43 cases), Tapak Bina Sinar View (Kepong, 32 cases), Paginatan (Ranau, Papar and Kota Belud, 47 cases), Tampoi Jaya (Johor Bahru, 32 cases), and Rapat (Kinta and Perak Tengah, seven cases).

Another 911 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 79,304.

However, one more death was reported, pushing the virus toll to 439.
