Whopping 2,234 new cases, 1,428 in Selangor

1,112 recoveries, three more deaths.

Another 2,234 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 78,499.

Selangor alone recorded 1,428 cases, of which 1,321 or 93.2% were from clusters and close contact screening. The majority of cases were linked to work places, in particular the Seruling (842 cases) and Hentian (315 cases) clusters.

This was followed by Sabah (274), Kuala Lumpur (136) and Perak (115).

Johor recorded 100 cases, Negeri Sembilan 67, Pahang 45, Penang 42, Kedah 14, Melaka five, Kelantan and Terengganu three each, and Sarawak and Putrajaya one each.

Active cases stand at 11,867 with 124 in the ICU and 60 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 1,112 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 66,236.

However, three more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 396.
