1,123 new cases, 490 in Klang Valley

Four more deaths take virus toll to 380.

Another 1,123 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 71,359.

Of these, 490 or 43.6% were recorded in the Klang Valley – 265 in Kuala Lumpur, 221 in Selangor and four in Putrajaya.

Sabah recorded 391 cases, Johor 66, Penang 44, Perak 39, Kelantan 35, Kedah 30, Negeri Sembilan and Labuan 10 each, Melaka five, Pahang two and Sarawak one.

In Sabah, 106 cases were from clusters, 188 from screening of close contacts and 97 from other Covid-19 screenings.

In Kuala Lumpur, 228 cases were from clusters including 162 from a new cluster known as the Tapak Bina Bulatan cluster, 18 were from close contact screening and 19 from other Covid-19 screenings.

In Selangor, 94 cases were from clusters, 58 were from close contact screening and 64 from other Covid-19 screenings. Five others were imported cases.

Active cases stand at 10,775 with 130 in the ICU and 54 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 1,143 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 60,204.

However, four more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 380.
