1,096 new cases, more than half in Selangor

Another 1,096 Covid-19 cases were reported today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 54,775.

Selangor recorded the most new cases at 603 or 55%, of which 502 or 83.3% were from the Teratai cluster.

This was followed by Sabah (311 or 28.4%) and Perak (55).

Kuala Lumpur recorded 30 new cases, Negeri Sembilan 29, Kedah 16, Penang 15, Labuan 13, Johor nine, Kelantan eight, Melaka five, and Perlis and Putrajaya one each.

No new cases were reported in Pahang, Terengganu and Sarawak.

Active cases stand at 12,843 with 106 in the ICU and 46 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 1,104 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 41,597.

However, three more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 335.
