1,210 new cases, death toll up by 5

Another 1,210 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 49,730.

Sabah recorded 499 new cases, followed by Selangor (271) and Kuala Lumpur (245). In Kuala Lumpur, 206 cases were from the Tapak Bina Damanlela cluster. In Selangor, meanwhile, 142 cases were from the Teratai cluster, of which 131 were foreigners.

Kedah recorded eight new cases, Melaka and Putrajaya two each, and Sarawak, Labuan and Terengganu one each.

Active cases stand at 12,788 with 105 in the ICU and 40 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 1,018 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 36,624.

However, five more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 318.
