Most recoveries yet as new cases dip to 589

However, three more deaths were recorded including a 100-year-old woman.

589 new cases were reported today, taking the total to 18,129.

Of these, 586 were local transmissions while the remaining three were imported.

The bulk of local transmissions were recorded in Sabah (340), followed by Selangor (150), Perak (52) and Kedah (31).

Penang recorded 16 local transmissions followed by Negeri Sembilan (11), Kuala Lumpur (nine), Labuan (six), Sarawak (two), Melaka (two), Kelantan (two) and Putrajaya (one).

The imported cases were reported in Kuala Lumpur (one) and Sarawak (two).

Active cases stand at 5,945, with 103 in the ICU and 31 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another three deaths were also recorded, all in Sabah, pushing the death toll to 170 or 0.94%.

The first death was a 54-year-old woman with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and thyroid problems.

The second death was a 68-year-old man with a history of diabetes while the third was a 100-year-old woman. Both of them were foreigners.

However, a new high of 409 patients were discharged, taking total recoveries to 12,014 or 66.27%.
