There have been at least two major disruptions to water supply in the Klang Valley since September.

Water supply has been restored to 17% of affected areas in Selangor, with 46 out of 274 receiving full supply as of 6am today.

Air Selangor said it was still working to restore supply to the remaining 228 areas.

“The Kuala Langat region recorded 55% recovery while Petaling recorded 37%, but Hulu Langat and Sepang/Putrajaya have yet to be restored.

“Consumers are advised to use water prudently to ensure that the recovery process for areas which are still affected proceeds smoothly and in line with Air Selangor’s recovery plan schedule,” its corporate communication chief Elina Baseri said in a statement today.

She added that Air Selangor was actively working to stabilise the water supply distribution system in the affected areas.

A total of 309,687 account holders in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang/Putrajaya experienced an unscheduled disruption in water supply beginning Sunday after the closure of the Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants due to raw water pollution.

Consumers in the affected areas can refer to Air Selangor’s official communication channels such as its app, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts and its website www.airselangor.com for further information.
