2 more deaths, 89 new infections

A total of 89 new cases were recorded today, bringing the number of Covid-19 infections back down to double digits after several days in the triple-digit zone.

According to the health ministry, 86 of those were local transmissions while the remaining three were imported.

Sabah recorded the most cases at 35, followed by Kedah (13), Selangor (10) and Johor (eight).

Two more deaths were also recorded in Kedah and Sabah, taking the virus toll to 136.

Twenty-eight patients were discharged, bringing recoveries to 9,967 or 88.8% of total cases, which now stand at 11,224.

Sixteen patients are being treated in the ICU with three in need of respiratory aid.
