Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah is expected to continue his treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) where he is being closely monitored for food poisoning and a sports injury, Istana Negara said in a statement today.

“Sultan Abdullah is scheduled to return to Istana Negara in the very near future after undergoing follow-up treatment,” it said in a statement.

The statement did not make any reference to the widely expected royal audience to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, who last week announced he had achieved a “formidable” majority to topple Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.

Anwar said then that an earlier appointment for a royal audience with the Agong could not take place as Sultan Abdullah had been admitted to IJN.

In the palace statement today, Sultan Abdullah also expressed his concern over the recent spike in number of Covid-19 infections.

Authorities today reported another 115 patients, continuing the trend of triple digit infections.
