Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and 55 others including two state executive councillors took a Covid-19 swab test today after confirmation of a positive case at an event they had attended on Monday.

The executive councillors are state health and local government committee chairman Mohd Hayati Othman and information, communication and multimedia and domestic trade and consumer affairs committee chairman Wan Romani Wan Salim.

A statement issued by the Kedah menteri besar’s office today said others who underwent the test included staff at the office and several state PAS leaders who were also present at the event, which took place in Kota Setar. The district is currently under administrative enhanced movement control order.

State health director Dr Mohd Fikri Ujang said in the same statement that the test sample was sent to the laboratory at the Sultanah Bahiyah hospital, with results expected tomorrow.

He added that Sanusi was not on the list of those who had come into close contact with the person who tested positive for Covid-19.

He also said it should not be a problem for Sanusi to continue carrying out his duty as menteri besar, to help the residents in Kota Setar or Melur zone in Ambangan Heights, Sungai Petani.
