Some 73.37% or 948 of the 1,292 areas hit by an unscheduled water disruption in seven regions in the Klang Valley had their water supply fully restored as of 6.30am today.

In a statement, Air Selangor said the remaining 344 areas were in the process of having their supply restored.

Hulu Selangor became the first area to record 100% water supply resumption, followed by Kuala Selangor (99.25%), Petaling (91.78%), Gombak (72.99%), Kuala Langat (50%), Kuala Lumpur (47.37%) and Klang/Shah Alam (38.42%).

Air Selangor said consumers who had received their water supply were advised to use it prudently to facilitate the process of restoring supply to other areas.

Efforts are being intensified to stabilise the water supply distribution system to enable supply to be restored to areas that are still affected, it added.

The Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, 3 and Rantau Panjang water treatment plants were forced to stop operation on Thursday due to pollution at the raw water source.
