A total of 545 Amanah members from the Kota Raja division today announced their departure from the party to join Bersatu.

The group, led by division vice-chairman 3, Jaafar Samsuddin, submitted their membership forms to Selangor Bersatu chairman Abdul Rashid Asari in Shah Alam.

Jaafar, a former Selangor Amanah committee member, said that of late, the party’s leadership had not brought about any change in the Kota Raja area.

He said the group was also attracted to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s style of leadership which he described as moderate, as well as his ability to manage public welfare during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Rashid meanwhile denied that some 3,000 Selangor Bersatu members had quit the party, saying only 122 have left so far.

They include the assemblymen for Kuang, Jeram and Batang Kali, who said they would join Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s party, Pejuang.

Rashid also said Selangor Bersatu has more than 50,000 members, 5,000 of whom are non-Malays.
