Hospital Medan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) di Tawau, Sabah, dijangka mula beroperasi minggu hadapan, kata Menteri Kanan (Kluster Keselamatan) Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Beliau yang juga Menteri Pertahanan berkata, pihaknya sedang melaksanakan mobilisasi bagi membuka hospital tersebut, yang bertujuan memberikan bantuan sokongan merawat kes selain Covid-19, pembedahan trauma dan kecemasan, wad bersalin serta lain-lain.

“Hospital medan ini tidak menerima pendatang asing tanpa izin yang memerlukan rawatan, kerana semalam kita telah umumkan, mereka ini akan berada di pusat kuarantin transit.

“Jika pendatang asing tanpa izin ini positif, mereka akan dibawa ke hospital (untuk rawatan) seperti biasa,” katanya pada sidang media secara maya dari kediamannya, menerusi Facebook Kementerian Pertahanan hari ini.

Semalam, Ismail Sabri dilaporkan berkata hospital medan ini mempunyai kapasiti 100 katil pelbagai wad, dengan kekuatan lapan pegawai perubatan dan 54 lain-lain pangkat terdiri daripada satu komander, lima doktor pakar, tiga pegawai perubatan serta lain-lain kakitangan.

Perkara itu dilaksanakan atas keperluan menambah fasiliti perubatan bagi menangani situasi di Sabah, berikutan jangkaan peningkatan kes positif Covid-19 di negeri itu.
